The Prince in Pontypandy is the first episode of the eleventh series of Fireman Sam.
Plot[]
Pontypandy is a buzz with excitement when a royal prince comes to visit and the Pontypandy Fire Service are given the responsibility of organizing the event, but when Tom falls down a ravine, an unexpected individual comes to his rescue. The plot revolves around the town's preparations for a royal visit being disrupted by a significant rescue operation.
The episode begins with the town of Pontypandy abuzz with excitement as everyone gets the quayside ready to welcome the visiting Prince and Princess (characters based on Prince William and Kate Middleton). The Pontypandy Fire Service is tasked with organizing the event, including preparing the red carpet, which leads to some minor comedic drama when Elvis accidentally rolls it into the sea, causing it to shrink and become dirty.
The main emergency unfolds as the Junior Cadets are on a hike with Tom Thomas and Moose. On their way back, they discover the bridge they used to cross a ravine has disappeared. They attempt to use a rope and grappling hook to cross, but the rope breaks, and Tom falls onto a rocky ledge in the ravine, injuring his shoulder.Unable to climb out, the cadets call for Fireman Sam. Since Tom, the usual rescue helicopter pilot, is the one in trouble, an unexpected individual steps up to fly the rescue helicopter: the visiting Prince himself, who is revealed to be a certified helicopter pilot in the story. The Prince assists Sam in rescuing Tom and the Junior Cadets, ensuring everyone is safe and the royal visit concludes successfully, with the cadets receiving their Prince's award.
