The New Hero Next Door is the fifth episode of the sixth series. It was written by Andrew Brenner.
Plot[]
Mandy Flood decides to make a movie about a rescue and, with no real emergency taking place, Norman Price casts himself as the hero. The plan involves Norman's cousin, Sarah Jones, pretending to be in distress. However, her performance is so convincing that her father, Charlie Jones, rushes in to save her, believing her cries for help are genuine. His well-meaning but ill-advised heroic attempt causes a real scramble, inadvertently creating the very drama that Mandy had hoped to capture for her film. Ultimately, Charlie's actions turn the fictional rescue into a real emergency, which naturally requires the fire brigade to intervene.
