Plot[]
The story centers on the mischievous endeavors of Norman Price, who decides to produce his own international spy film in Pontypandy. Norman casts the much more cautious James as his reluctant stunt double. The initial phase of filming involves Norman convincing James to perform a series of increasingly risky "stunts," which invariably go wrong. These mishaps include James getting stuck hanging upside down in a tree and nearly driving a go-kart into the sea, highlighting the immediate dangers of their unsupervised play.
The central conflict escalates when Norman films the movie's climax in Joe Sparkes' garage. As part of the scene, Norman ties James securely to a chair. He then instructs James to use a magnifying glass to focus sunlight onto the ropes, intending for James to burn himself free like a movie hero. This "special effect" goes disastrously wrong when the focused sunlight beam accidentally ignites a pile of oily rags and nearby flammable cans, causing a real fire to break out in the garage and trapping James.
With James in real danger and the garage engulfed in flames, the emergency services are alerted. Fireman Sam and the Pontypandy fire crew arrive swiftly in their fire engine, Jupiter. They efficiently extinguish the blaze and successfully rescue James, bringing Norman's dangerous directorial debut to an end. The episode concludes by delivering a clear message about fire safety, the proper use of equipment, and the serious risks associated with playing with fire and engaging in dangerous stunts without adult supervision.
