Sky Lanterns is the twentieth episode of the Series 8. It was written by Simon Nicholson.
Plot[]
Mrs. Chen's class makes lanterns to celebrate Chinese New Year. Impatient and excited, Norman Price can't wait to launch his. While the class is on the mountain, Sam observes a change in the wind direction, which could make releasing the lanterns dangerous. Disappointed by the news, Norman ignores the warning and "accidentally" lets his lantern go. The floating lantern gets caught in a nearby tree, igniting a forest fire. Fireman Sam and the crew use a newly equipped fire engine, Bessie, and its "sticky foam" to put out the blaze. After the emergency is over, the other children are safely able to release their lanterns, but Norman's premature action means his celebration is spoiled.
