This article is about the first series. You may be looking for the second half of Series 1 in the Welsh order. |
The first series of Fireman Sam aired in Wales in September 1987, in England in November 1987, in New Zealand in 1988, and in Australia in 1990. All the voices in Welsh were done by Gareth Lewis and in English by John Alderton.
Series count and discrepancies with other sites and guides[]
In most episode listings (such as broadcasts in other countries, VHS & DVD releases, and streaming sites), the series' "packaging order" has 8 episodes. However, only 6 of these episodes where originally broadcast as part of the first series in English, with the last 2 episodes being broadcast later on in 1988 (although, they where included on VHS before airing on TV).
In Wales, this series has 16 episodes, with the series being aired in two-halves with 8 episodes each (i:e Series 1 is Series 1a, and Series 2 is Series 1b). The last 8 episodes of Series 1b were broadcast as part of the second series in England and in most other countries.
Production wise, it is most likely that the first 12 episodes were originally made for this seasons' production between late 1986-1987, with the last 4 episodes being made much later on sometime in 1988, due to the fact that character models where given a slight update towards them (such as them being given new faces).
