"Pest in Show" was written by Tim Bain and is the 19th episode of Series 9.
Plot[]
The town of Pontypandy is abuzz with excitement for its first-ever Most Talented Pet contest. Mandy Price is confident her dog Nipper will take home the grand prize, while Sarah Jones is equally convinced her cat Lion is the superior contender, leading to a friendly rivalry between the two children. Meanwhile, Fireman Sam is preoccupied with a less glamorous task: giving the fire station's dalmatian, Radar, a much-needed bath.
The competition takes a chaotic turn when Mandy, perhaps a bit overexcited, lets Nipper off his leash. In an instant, a chase ensues, with Nipper hot on Lion's tail. The pursuit leads the two pets straight into the Wholefish Cafe, where their scuffle accidentally knocks over some equipment and starts a fire. To make matters worse, both Nipper and Lion become trapped inside the burning building.
The alarm is raised, and the Pontypandy Fire Service rushes to the scene. With the two competing pets in danger, the team must quickly formulate a rescue plan. It falls upon Radar, the very dog Sam had just finished bathing, to play a crucial role in the successful rescue operation, proving that every pet in Pontypandy, talented or not, has a vital part to play.
