Background Information[]

Penny Morris is a fictional female fighter who was created by Dave Gingell, David Jones and Rob Lee. She originally hailed from Newtown Fire Station (series 3 to 4), helping out occasionally with The Pontypandy Brigade. She become a Full Time Firefighter at Pontypandy Fire Station in series 5.

Her first appearance was in the first episode of Series 3 of Fireman Sam, Dilys' Forgetful Day, which aired in 1990.

Behind The Scenes[]

Original Stop-motion model[]

Penny Morris' original puppet was made from scratch using fibreglass for the head, felt for the hands and possibly linen fibres for the hair.

The Original puppet was used in 8 episodes of Series 3, and 3 episodes of Series 4.

Series 5 Stop-motion model[]

After Bumper Films produced was stopping making new episodes from 1994, when HIT Entertainment built the newest stop-motion model of Penny Morris which was made out of clay and fabric for her body. This puppet of Penny was given a shorter hairstyle compared to her original counterpart.

After series 5 was finished, when Penny's series 5 model was sitting at Mattel storage until it was returned using in The Official BBC Children in Need Medley. But her eyebrows was missing or crew never notices and Penny wears gloves.

As current years, all original and series 5 of Penny Morris puppets was be storage from Mattel, when both never seen both again in public.

CGI model[]

In 2008, the series introduced Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) as a replacement for the show's long-standing stop motions. Fireman Sam was recreated from scratch in CGI by Xing Xing.
