Night of the Norman is the tenth episode of the eleventh series.

Plot[]

On a Saturday night, Norman and Derek are watching "Night of the Zombies". Derek asks if he has to watch this, to which Norman says if he's not scared. Derek switches over to "The World of Spoons", but Norman soon scares him away, now allowing him to watch the movie in peace. At the Whole Fish Cafe, Sam and Penny have set Bronwyn up with some new heating for the winter, and that it could stop her from catching the winter bug going around. Bronwyn soon responds that it's too late for that because James has already caught it. Soon on the radio, the One Way Street song "Shake Up My Summer Go-Go!" plays. Bronwyn and Penny begin to dance to the song, deeming it to be catchy, with Penny asking Sam to join in with the sing-along, to which Sam replies that it's not his kind of music. James sneezes in response, agreeing with his Uncle Sam.

Back at the store, Norman continues to watch his zombie movie, until Dilys arrives and startles Norman. She asks him what she's watching and he switches over to the World of Spoons in time. Dilys asks him to pick up dinner at the Whole Fish Cafe, but Norman is scared to go out and tries to get out of it by saying he has a winter bug, but she isn't fooled, saying that all Norman has is "Lazylumpitis" and sends him to go. Back at the Fire Station, Sam and Penny have returned, with Elvis telling them that they're having a "Night Duty Danceathon", Sam is interested until he hears the song everyone is dancing to - Shake Up My Summer Go-Go!. Sam wonders that it it's gonna be a long night.

Norman reaches the Whole Fish Cafe, just as the thunder begins to rumble. He deems that the thunder won't scare him, and nether does the zombie movie. As he heads inside, he sees James who says hello to him with a croaky voice and looking sick. Norman freaks out, thinking he has become a "Pondie" and runs away screaming. Sarah comes in and asks James if he's even seen anyone with a winter bug before. Norman then runs away from the Whole Fish Cafe, yelling "The Pondies are coming!". Back at the Fire Station, Sam is sorting out the hoses and wonders if it's the coldest night in winter, and is happy for it to be the summer. He soon catches the crew singing the song, while Steele arrives and asks them what's going on. Sam responds that the crew are having a sing-along, to which Steele replies why they haven't invited him to join in because he likes Shake Up My Summer Go-Go! as well. At Joe's Garage, Norman screams to come in and rescue him from the Pondies, to which Joe tells him that Hannah has been infected as well. Norman runs away as soon as he hears the word "infected". Hannah asks Joe if she can have a visitor because she's been in the house all day, but Joe tells her that it's not a good idea as Norman would catch the bug too. Soon, the garage opens and Hannah asks for Norman to come back, but he screams.

At the Flood's House, Mandy is watching a scary zombie movie and Mike is asleep. Norman bangs the door and whines to come in, to which Mandy allows him to come in. Norman tells her that James and Hannah have become pondies, but Mandy doesn't believe it to be real - until the blast of thunder scares them. They barricade the doors and windows with the furniture and hide in her room. They're safe, until Mandy begins to get sick. Norman freaks out that she's becoming a pondie as well, and escapes her room - but at the same time breaks her door handle as well. Norman tries to call Fireman Sam, but because they buried everything to cover the door, the phone is hidden away. Norman tries to find something to signal for help, and finds a flare in an emergency bag. He fires the flare to the window, but doesn't fire it properly - with the flare instead hitting the side of the window and setting fire to a laundry basket. Mike soon wakes up, saying he had a dream of Norman setting a flare off in the house and setting fire to his laundry basket. When he notices that it did happen, he says "It wasn't a dream, was it..." as he calls the Fire Station.

The Firefighters arrive to the Flood's House. Sam asks Elvis and Ellie to fight the fire outside, while he and Penny sort out the inside. The door is blocked because of what Norman did, so they kick it open. Norman assumes that he has saw a pondie (due to his breathing apparatus) but Sam says it's just him. They soon hear Mandy's cries for help, with Sam asking Penny to get Norman and Mike out as he extquinishes the rest of the fire and frees Mandy. Helen arrives at the scene, and Mandy tells her that Norman almost burnt their house down and that she has gotten sick. Helen says to her that she must have caught the same bug that James and Hannah got. Sam scolds Norman for firing a flare inside a house, to which Norman wonders if the zombie movie scared him too much. Penny soon replies that the way to forget about the movie is a good sing-a-long, as everyone begins to sing "Wake Up My Summer Go-Go!", much to Sam and Norman's dismay, with Norman saying the song is worse than a Pondie bug. The others continue to dance and sing as the episode ends.
