John Alderton (born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England, UK, November 27th, 1940) is an English actor who was the narrator and vocalist for all of the characters in the classic series of Fireman Sam.
Besides being the narrator and sole vocalist of the classic Fireman Sam episodes, Alderton is also known for his roles as Thomas Watkins from Upstairs, Downstairs and its spin-off series Thomas & Sarah, and as Mr. Bernard Hedges from Please Sir!.
Alderton has also often starred alongside his wife Pauline Collins (whom he married in 1969), most notably in the romantic comedy No, Honestly, and co-narrating with her for the Little Miss series in 1983. They both also appeared in two episodes of Tales of the Unexpected, but coincidentally not the same ones.
