Fireman James is the nineteenth episode of the seventh season. It was written by Laura Beaumont and Paul Larson.

Plot[]

James, fueled by his usual over-enthusiasm, is playing with his walkie-talkie and discovers he can tune into the fire station's radio frequency. Overhearing a call about a large animal stuck at the Floods' property, he rushes to the scene with his toy fire engine, hoping to be the hero. He arrives before the official fire crew and attempts to "rescue" the animal, but his plan goes awry, and he accidentally locks himself in a shed. Meanwhile, his well-intentioned actions have only caused more confusion and complications for the real emergency.

When the Pontypandy fire crew, led by Fireman Sam, arrives on the scene, they quickly assess the situation. They discover James's mistake and realize that the simple animal rescue has become a more complex operation involving both the stranded animal and a trapped child. As the real firefighters spring into action, James feels a surge of panic. He realizes that a genuine emergency is far more frightening than he ever imagined and that playing pretend is very different from the real, dangerous work his uncle does.

With Fireman Sam taking charge, the crew works together to rescue James first. Sam uses his calm and reassuring demeanor to talk James through the rescue, while the others use their equipment to safely get him out of the shed. Once James is safe, he apologizes for interfering and learns a valuable lesson about listening to professionals. The crew then swiftly and professionally handles the original call, rescuing the animal and ensuring everyone is safe and sound.
