Elvis in Concert is the eighth episode of Series 8. It was written by Adam Long.

Plot[]

Station Officer Steele is telling Sam and Penny about how firefighters must be prepared to step up when the public needs them, but he is interrupted by Elvis singing a song. Elvis tells him that he's practicing for the charity concert but Steele replies that the song is driving him mad because he has heard the same song for a week. Elvis aks Steele if he is going to be singing, which he replies that he isn't. Sam makes sure for him to go back on topic, but Steele starts singing Elvis' song.

At the quay, the kids put up a poster of Elvis. Norman says to the others that Dilys told him that Elvis is planning a big surprise for the concert. Back at the Fire Station as Elvis plays his song with Trevor, Steele is getting more annoyed at hearing the song. Sam suggests that he should go to the quay with him to give the stage a safety check, to which he accepts. Mike arrives to pick up Elvis as they head over to Newtown in his van to collect the big surprise, which is soon revealed to be a giant wooden guitar prop. Elvis and Mike are excited until smoke comes out of the van's bonnet. At the Quay, Steele still has the song stuck in his head to which Sam tells him that he should sing at the concert, but Steele is still unsure about it because he believes everyone would laugh at him.

Meanwhile for Elvis and Mike, they discover that they are now stranded after the raidator in the van overheated. Elvis is worried, but Mike suggests they carry the giant guitar; but now have their own problems of knowing the route, unaware of their own safety. Back at the Fire Station, Sam tells Penny about Steele likely having stage fright for his reason of not wanting to perform. He decides to man the station for the night and Penny heads off to enjoy the show. Meanwhile, Elvis and Mike are leading into danger at the cliffs due to their arguing, ending with Mike clinging onto the guitar over the cliffs. At the quay stage, the kids are awaiting the arrival of Elvis, while Trevor tells Steele that he will have to cancel the show if Elvis doesn't arrive. The sky has now gone dark and Mike is still in complete peril, with Elvis deciding to call Fireman Sam.

Sam soon arrives in Venus, while Tom provides backup as they rescue Mike using Wallaby 1. Although Mike is soon rescued, Elvis loses his grip and the giant guitar falls down the cliffs and gets destroyed, much to Elvis' disopointment. Back at the concert, Trevor is about the cancel the show until Steele interveans and tells everyone he will be songing instead, and sings Elvis' song. Back at the cliffs, Sam tells Elvis and Mike that they need to be careful with their surroundings next time. Elvis is happy that Mike is safe, but he's sad he has missed the show and even if he could make it, his entrance is now ruined. Sam has an idea though, and asks Tom if he fancies a trip to a concert.

Steele's cover of Elvis' song proves to be a big success, to which he wishes that Elvis saw it. However, the sounds of Wallaby 1 are heard by everyone as Elvis makes an epic landing onto the stage and sings a modified version of his song, titled "Sam's the Man", telling about his whole odeal he had with the giant guitar.

After the concert ends, Steele tells Elvis that he has some great song ideas for the next charity concert, and head off as Sam and Penny laugh, ending the episode.
