Disastrous Dilys is the twelfth episode of the eighth season. It was written by Lizzie Ennever.
Plot[]
Fireman Sam, Elvis Cridlington and Penny Morris are on the alert for all the mishaps that Naughty Norman Price might cause when he and Mandy Flood go out to sea to earn their Pontypandy Pioneer fishing badges. However when trouble strikes on Charlie's Fishing Boat, surprisingly Norman Price is not to blame and everyone discovers that his mother can be just as troublesome as her own son. Dilys Price, Norman's overprotective and doting mother, insists on joining the excursion, eager to see her son succeed and perhaps keep him out of trouble .
The group heads out to sea, and things initially seem calm. However, the anticipated trouble does not come from Norman this time. Instead, it is Dilys who becomes the central source of the problems. In a series of escalating accidents caused by her bumbling efforts to help, Dilys manages to jam the rudder of Charlie's fishing boat, leaving them unable to steer. To make matters worse, she accidentally breaks their radio communication equipment, cutting them off from the shore and preventing them from calling for help when the boat begins to drift. The Fire Service soon realizes that the boat is in distress and launches a rescue operation. Fireman Sam and the crew arrive in the rescue boat, Neptune. They find the stranded group and safely bring them back to shore.
