Deep Water is the thirteenth (twelfth in Welsh) episode of the fifth series (fourth in Welsh).
Summary[]
Mandy and Norman get into deep water when they go hunting for treasure after stealing Sam's latest invention, but something goes muddy when Mandy digs up a hole and falls right into it.

Trivia[]
- This is the second episode where Norman Price is seen with his glasses off. The first time was in Halloween.
- This is the only episode where Fireman Sam and Penny are seen wearing dark blue jackets with reflective strips which they use to rescue Mandy from the hole but later can be seen hanging up in Sam's house in Birthday Surprise. These coats are actually based on the nomex jackets most UK fire services wore throughout the early 1990s to 2010. It is possible that an extra was made for when Elvis and Station Officer Steele were seen wearing them, but went unused.
- This is one of four episodes Fireman Sam is seen driving Jupiter alone in Series 5 apart from the intro, the others being Mummy's Little Pumpkin, Beast of Pontypandy and Norman's Invisible Friend. However, unlike those episodes, Sam drive Jupiter to the emergency alone in this episode.
- Speaking of which, this is the only Series 5 Episode where Elvis do not go on an emergency with Sam in Jupiter.
- Jupiter shakes when Fireman Sam starts the engine up, which is never seen in any other episode.
- This is the only appearance of Penny's winch as well as the only time Tom Thomas uses his Mountain Rescue 4x4 in an emergency in Series 5, despite the latter being a fairly common background vehicle.
- This episode reveals Tom's Mountain Rescue 4x4 shares the same siren as Venus and unlike all the other Pontypandy emergency vehicles has red emergency lights.
- This episode is also the first time, and, until Series 16 in Come to Pontypandy, only time, that the 4x4 uses it's sirens. This gives it the status of having the longest duration of 19 years before it's siren is used again in the show.
