The BBC was responsible for broadcasting Fireman Sam from 1987 to 2008. The company also used to distribute the Fireman Sam videos until HiT Entertainment took over ownership of the series. Despite Mattel buying the rights in 2012, the BBC appears to still have some rights over the 1987 - 2005 series as they posted every episode of Series 1-5 on the official CBeebies website and BBC iPlayer on 17 November 2020.

Trivia

• Fireman Sam was originally planned to be available on the BBC iPlayer on 21 September 2020, but it was pushed back to 17 November, most likely for it being the series' anniversary.
• The episodes that are on the BBC iPlayer use the altered HiT Entertainment DVD versions with the updated title card, rather than the original unaltered episodes they aired on the BBC from 1987 to 2007.
